A state of the art new farm shop featuring a Production Kitchen, 100 seat restaurant, butchery, bakery & fresh produce centre. The idea behind the business was to reduce the distance from “farm to plate” with the owners, the Watkins’ family, rearing their own livestock to sell in the shop and inviting other local producers to do the same. This resulted in 80% of produce being sourced from Carmarthenshire itself.
Smiths Retail Design’ brief from Rob Ward at Bidwells was to design, manufacture and install “Custom Made Display Counters” for a new state of the art farm shop and to provide the perfect “Food Retail Experience”, including enhancing the shopping experience with a strong emphasis on fresh food product categories.
Our response to the brief was a carefully planned complete fit-out of both custom manufactured equipment and modular display systems “cladded” accordingly. The concept was “Farm to Plate” with 80% of produce being locally sourced. SRDS designed and manufactured all refrigerated counters and serve overs, effectively optimising the available retail space.
The installation was completed within the specified time frame and, after a successful opening by the Welsh Minister for Rural affairs, the shop goes from strength to strength and will surely be an award winning Farm Shop in the near future.
What we Did:
Smiths Retail Design installed: S-Shaped Butchery Serve Over, Meat Maturing Counter, Deli Counter, Café Counter & Servery, Refrigerated Fruit & Vegetable Display and Back Bar Fittings. Multidecks and Freezers were supplied and cladded to fit with Cwmcerrig’s core brand.
